Something to take out of my chest…

October 26th, 2007 by fraix

Or my thoughts…

Hmmm… let’s say.

You’ve been working at this company, which has been around for more
than a decade. IT has a discerned reputation of service excellence, and
there you are…

The new guy, who’s been around for quite awhile, but haven’t handled any project.

Till one day, the time arrived for the project to start. Then it turned
out to not be a simple project. It was somewhat unique, advanced, and
certainly way beyond what the new guy has done before.

After a couple months of slow progress, the pace began to increase, but
unfortunately the progress wasn’t fitting to his superior’s
expectations.

Well… in one side, the new guy didn’t receive any proper guidance
from his superiors… they expected him to learn by himself and if
necessary, from his peers. Easier said than done, if the environment
was supportive. But then again, the guy was working in a new division
separated from what his peers were doing.

T’ant pis (French for: Too bad; So much the worse).

Fortunately, the new guy is later partnered with a more experience
worker who recently moved into the company. After strong disappointment
from the management above, it was decided that the experienced worker
would be in charge handling the new project while the new guy would
simply assist him.

Is there any sense where this story is heading?

Today’s my 26th Birthday

June 18th, 2007 by fraix

Well…

I just thought I ought to write some things down.

Today’s my 26th birthday.

Time to pull my act together, for my work, for my future family, for my Lord.

Sanny prayed for me, a very beautiful one indeed. So did my Dad later the night.

Both prayed that I may grow more mature, wiser and be blessing to wherever I will be.

Thank you Lord for letting me live 26 years, and let me live the rest of my days ahead as a mean to glorify you always. Amen

Studying abroad

May 23rd, 2007 by fraix

Recently, a friend of mine asked me an interesting questions. I’ve known her only for about 4 months, and she asked me from my knowing her as friend, do I think she’s capable of living and studying abroad?

It reminds me of an old friend, say her name is Anne. During her high school senior year, she was selected as one of the Indonesian students to participate in a student exchange program. With a rather heavy heart, she left Jakarta for Boston, MA (that in the American east coast). When she returned a year later, she described her experience like this:
The first six months, she nearly cried every day, being separated from her home, family and friends (and boyfriend).
The following six months, she enjoyed Boston so much that she felt sad having to return to Indonesia again.

Back to my first friend. Studying abroad, as well working?
I know that living abroad is not easy. I know it has its challenges and opportunities, but one of the most dififculties is the sense of loneliness, especially being far away from our comfort zone environment and familiar surroundings.

I can only pick some insights during my brief time in Singapore. Being there was really something. Aside the issues of loneliness, it also helped me find and re-define myself.

Another thing I would say about going abroad to study: money will be an issue. Either you bring enough, or you have to make up with what you have. Having a part time job would just be tricky, since earning a work permit in a foreign country is a daunting task.

C&C3 - Kane Lives

April 26th, 2007 by fraix

Haven’t mentioned much about the games I’ve been playing lately.
Nevertheless, I’d at least give the honor to mention Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. The third game in the Command & Conquer series, this game received a lot of hype and media coverage since its revealing April last year.

The game gone gold a year later and was sold in stores later last March. I myself pre-ordered a Kane Edition (a special collector’s item of the said game, which costs $10 more expensive) and received in my hands two weeks ago.

I really enjoyed the game, but was really disappointed by the FMV (Full Motion Video) scenes which used live actors. The audio and video weren’t in sync, and often a video scene will end 5-10 seconds after the sound is finished. William Tango Foxtrot?

Well, gotta get back to work.

Kabar Arvin (per 10 Februari 2007)

February 10th, 2007 by fraix

kami sekeluarga membantu sesama. Gue sendiri nggak langsung ikut mengevakuasi korban banjir (seperti tahun 2002 dulu), tapi setidaknya gue sempat ngantar-ngantarin orang, belanja bahan makanan, dan antar makanan.

Q: Rumah kena banjir gak?
A: Tidak kena, tapi daerah sekitarnya cukup kena. Rumahku malah jadi dapur umum.

Q: Sekarang kerja apa?
A: Sebelumnya kan saya jadi project-based staff di YLI (Young Life
Indonesia).

Q: Gimana kabar pacar? Kapan menikah?
A: Sanny baik-baik saja.
masyarakat awam.

Q: Lagi main game apa sekarang?
A: Game apa ya? Terakhir sih saya main Heroes of Might & Magic IV (iya…iya…
game lama).
tahun lalu) gak perlu main pake CD-nya.
makeURL(”dari http://www.ubi.com .”,”eHNsL2J1bGxldGluLnhzbA==”);bisa diperbaikin dengan download patch dari http://www.ubi.com.

Well, sekian dulu kabar dari ARVIN.

Merry Christmas 2006

December 29th, 2006 by fraix

I know I’m a few days late.

Just wanna say Merry Christmas.

This year’s Christmas is quite something!

I’ve decided to renew my life’s commitment to my Lord. Also, I’ve been struggling with one of my selfishness… trying to get through them.

Anyway, there was this big earthquake around Taiwan a few days ago and the result damaged the international Internet link around Asia-Pacific, including Indonesia. The result was, we had trouble accessing international websites (including Friendster, MSN and Yahoo) but not the domestics one.

Well, I’ll try to keep you guys posted soon.

Regards.

Lead me the way…

December 4th, 2006 by fraix

Appreciating the time that I have,
the freedom that I’m enjoying
seem so distant and far away

not realizing that I may have gone astray

I try to find my path

find who I am and where I’m going

but no matter where I’ve sat

or whatever I’ve been doing

It seems to come back to me

back to me to where it all began

where am I going?

what am I doing?

what is this all coming to?

My life, my hopes, my dreams

seem so useless and futile

if I don’t have my Redeemer

to guide and lead me the way

It is my intention

December 2nd, 2006 by fraix

It is my intention to write something significant in this post.

But it has gotten late, and my eyes are pretty much weary.

So what I have to say will be said later, perhaps tomorrow if I can find the time.
